Cikini has countless stories within its street corners and the towering buildings that surround them. Yet, if you type “Cikini Incident” into a search engine, the results point to the 1957 assassination attempt on President Sukarno by the Anti-Communist Movement. The anti-communist sentiment of that era went beyond the grenade attacks; but also properties were forcibly seized, including the home of DN Aidit, the Lekra secretariat office, and the residence of Sukrisno.
