This panel brings Santiago Escobar-Jaramillo (Colombia), Gabriel Barreto Bentin (Peru), and Ryan Andrew (Indonesia) into conversation with Chelsea Chua to explore how resilience takes shape across cultures and creative practices. 

We will hear stories from Colombia, where the rich cultural tradition faces a striking contrast to the realities of life affected by armed violence. In Peru, preserving cultural tradition also begs the question around indigenous identity and what it means to be an Indigenous today. The shadows of colonial past that leave their traces in family history are also present in Bermuda, a 21-square mile island in the North Atlantic Ocean.
