Panel 1: Gender Representation in Photography & Media
In Indonesia’s photography scene, discussion on photography through a gender perspective is still rarely found. In reality, photography cannot be separated from gender elements with its broad spectrum and complexities that are intertwined with political, cultural, inequality, ethnicity and environmental issues. This panel will explore issues of gender representation in photography and media in Indonesia.

Those changes have resulted in numerous challenges and opportunities, and photographers need to come up with the best formula to benefit from it.

Thus, the curriculum, system and model of education available are now so diverse. By sharing success stories and learning from failed experiments, we will explore the right and needed educational formula in improving the quality of photographers and their works.

Bound by the spirit of inclusiveness and independence, photography communities in many cities stimulate public participation, collaboration and initiatives that are in line with local contexts and needs. However, many of them are still struggling to answer classic issues such as regeneration within the communities as well as sustainable funding. In this panel, they will exchange stories and solutions explored by them.
