2. KALA KARYA

Officiated in late 2021, Kala Karya is the latest addition to Jakarta’s creative scene. The multifunctional place hosts exhibitions, music performances, discussions, and creative classes. Its signature facility is a 75-square meter gallery with a modern tropical design. @kala_karya

3. LAMANDAU HOUSE

Blok M is home to many boutique hotels, and Lamandau House stands out thanks to its design. Occupying a luxurious house in one of the most expensive addresses in Blok M, this hotel features a customized design for each of its 10 rooms. 4. LOKAHOLIK

5. M BLOC SPACE

Officiated in 2019, M Bloc Space signaled the start of a big trend in Indonesia, where outworn properties belonging to state-owned companies were converted into creative compounds. On a 6,500-square-meter land, M Bloc Space occupies dozens of former Perum Peruri’s staff houses and banknote warehouses, and turns them into restaurants, cafes, boutiques, a grocery story, as well as exhibition spaces and a concert hall. @mblocspace

6. MAL BLOK M

In the 1990s, Mal Blok M was one of the most popular shopping centers in Jakarta. It was popular not only because of its collection of shops and restaurants, but the structure: two floors underground, right under one of Jakarta’s busiest bus terminals. malblokm.com

7. TEATER BULUNGAN

Inaugurated in 1970, Gelanggang Remaja Bulungan is the first youth center in Jakarta. The historic venue has attracted a number of well-known Indonesian musicians and artists. The Theater building within the complex accommodates 340 seats.
