Internet, social media, wearable gadgets, artificial intelligence technology continues to evolve and become an integral part of human life. As many cases shown, technology is not merely a tool anymore; it shapes individuals and group identities, how we relate and communicate to each other and the way we live in a country and society.
To what extent has technology infiltrated our lives, what are its impacts, and would it be possible for humans to coexist with technology without losing their humanity? This is the theme that will be explored in the fifth edition of JIPFest: COEXISTENCE.
This year, we will celebrate photography through JIPFest from 12-21 September 2025 in Cikini, Central Jakarta. To find photos that relate to the main theme, our team will do a curatorial research and hold an open call from May 21st to June 21st 2025 for the public to submit their theme-related photos. The selected photos then will be presented to the public and will be discussed more during the festival. From the photos, JIPFest hopes to broaden the audience’s insights and perception that relates to the COEXISTENCE issue. Not only through photo exhibition, but the festival will cultivate COEXISTENCE issues through discussion, public lecture, fringe, festival tour, urban photo tour, artist’s talk, portfolio review, projection night, and workshop.
