From AI, photography practices in the commercial, documentary, and music worlds, to financial strategies, all will be discussed in the discussion program at JIPFest 2025.

In 2025, JIPFest will present six discussion sessions, all of which will be held on weekends during the festival. To support the sustainability of the festival, JIPFest will implement a Daily Pass or 10-Days Pass ticket system to access the Exhibition, Indonesia Photo Fair, Projection Night, and all Talk Show programs at Galeri S. Sudjojono.

COEXISTENCE: Curatorial Discussion
COEXISTENCE, the theme of JIPFest 2025, invites reflection on how we live side by side amid differences and change. Guided by this theme, the curatorial team has selected 21 works of photography and multimedia from 13 countries. The curators will share their ideas, artistic approaches, and conceptual considerations behind the exhibition. This discussion offers an opportunity to explore how the broader idea of coexistence is translated into curatorial decisions and presentation within the exhibition space.

Chelsea Chua
Chelsea Chua is a cultural worker and Program Director at Objectifs Centre for Photography and Film, Singapore. She oversees programs, exhibitions, and initiatives such as the Documentary Awards and Curator Open Call, while actively collaborating with artists and cultural organizations in Southeast Asia. She has served on selection panels for regional programs and regularly shares knowledge through talks and workshops at international photography festivals. @Chelseachua

Yoppy Pieter
Yoppy Pieter is Jakarta-based visual storyteller, educator, and independent curator focusing on identity, gender, environment, and health. He has joined residencies at NOOR Images Amsterdam, was selected for the 6×6 Global Talent Program and Joop Swart Masterclass, and is a National Geographic Explorer (2023). His works have been exhibited internationally; he has published the photobook Saujana Sumpu (2016), co-founded Arkademy (2018), and teaches at PannaFoto Institute.

Okky Ardya is an editor and documentary photographer based in Jakarta. She began as a reporter at Kompas Gramedia and editor at CONCEPT magazine before moving to freelance photography. How can a simple idea grow into a photograph rich with meaning and visual power? Budi N.D. Dharmawan is a freelance writer who lives with his cat in Yogyakarta. Formerly a freelance documentary photographer, he now focuses on research and writing about the intersections between photography and society, including history, media, art, education, and culture. Heret Frasthio
Heret Frasthio is Jakarta-based photographer whose career began in 2000. Known for fashion and commercial photography that once dominated city billboards, he continues to work with major brands and agencies. Behind the Glitter of Nickel: A Blurred Portrait of Energy Transition
Corruption in climate policy is becoming increasingly visible, particularly behind narratives of energy transition and sustainable development, with critical mineral industries such as nickel. Photography serves as a powerful medium to uncover on-the-ground realities and provide the public with an evocative visual experience. With emotional proximity to the stories they capture, the photography community plays a strategic role in voicing social and environmental issues.

Adlun Fiqri
Adlun Fiqri was born and raised in Halmahera. He developed an interest in documentary photography while active in the student press, focusing on environmental and cultural issues. He also facilitates community programs in environmental organizations and initiated the Fakawele Project in Central Halmahera, documenting villages and strengthening youth engagement. @adlunfiqri

Muhammad Fadli
Muhammad Fadli is Jakarta-based documentary photographer and producer, born in West Sumatra. Formerly a photojournalist, he is now freelancing, focusing on history, culture, environment, and social issues. His works have appeared in National Geographic, The Wall Street Journal, TIME, and Rest of World, and have been shown at international festivals. Seira is legal researcher at Indonesia Corruption Watch focusing on political corruption. She builds anti-corruption networks nationwide and was involved in advocacy for the 2024 elections, addressing transparency, women’s representation, and fraud. Umanitya, fondly known as Nitya, is a philosophy graduate from Universitas Indonesia, now working with an NGO in Jakarta focusing on anti-corruption. Behind the Pit: The Realities of Music and Stage Photography Today
Behind the glittering stage and pounding beats lies the hidden world of stage photographers. Marked by high pressure and restricted access, they capture fleeting moments in seconds. How do we understand the mutual relationship between music and photography? This session explores the position of photographers in today’s commercialized music industry, addressing power relations, work ethics, copyright challenges, and survival strategies behind the lens.

Arum Dayu
Arum Dayu is a multidisciplinary artist based in Bandung, whose photographic practice explores motherhood, social narratives, and gender equality in Indonesia. With a background in photojournalism and visual arts, she works across photography, video, performance, and sound to explore lived experiences and collective memory. Her works often engage local communities and domestic spaces. She has exhibited, joined residencies, and led workshops in Indonesia and abroad. Narendra Kameshwara
Narendra is a professional music photographer for local and international concerts or festivals. Rendy Pandugo
Rendy Pandugo is a singer-songwriter from Medan, raised in Surabaya. He began his career on SoundCloud, showcasing his singing and guitar skills, before releasing his debut album The Journey (2017) with the hit “I Don’t Care.” In 2021, he released the EP See You Someday, later founding his own label P.O.P Records. In 2023, he released several Indonesian-language singles, and now works from his home studio collaborating with artists such as Bernadya, Sal Priadi, The Lantis, and Rony Parulian. @rendypandugo

Rangga Kuzuma is a visual artist with a background in communication and multimedia, working across photography, graphic design, and art direction. He has collaborated with Indonesian musicians such as Hara, Frau, Dialita Choir, Chriss Derek, and Reruntuh. For over a decade, he has been archiving artists and exhibitions in Indonesia. Since 2021, he has been part of Kongsi 8, a creative space in Jatinegara that hosts initiatives such as Bunga Zine Fest, Irama Bunga, and other collaborative programs. @ranggakuzuma
