On 10 January 2019, the Jakarta International Photo Festival (JIPFest) 2019 officially opens its doors for photographers to submit their works. This invitation is valid for photographers of any nationality, aged 18 years or older. JIPFest welcomes photography and multimedia projects that are made in a diverse visual storytelling approach, including documentary, photojournalism and art projects. Each work must be in line with the festival’s theme—Identity. All submissions will be selected and curated by a curatorial team consisting of Firman Ichsan, Jenny Smets, and Ahmad ‘Deny’ Salman. Collectively, they will curate all photo submissions under the festival’s theme—Identity. Firman Ichsan takes the Head Curator seat. He is the founder of Oktagon Visual Education & Culture Development Foundation, and was the Chairman of the Jakarta Arts Council (2009-2012) and the Executive Director of Jakarta Biennale 2009.
