Jakarta International Photo Festival (JIPFest) 2021 calls out to artists, photographers, and publishers to submit their photo books and take part at the Photo Book Exhibition, scheduled for 13-28 November 2021 at Kota Tua, Jakarta. The Photo Book Exhibition aims to show the development of photo book, including its role as a democratic medium within the photography practice, as well as its challenges and opportunities in this digital age. Jakarta International Photo Festival (JIPFest) 2021 calls out to photographers and artists from around the world to submit photographic and photo-based multimedia works that are made in a diverse visual approach. Each work must be in line with the festival’s theme—SPACE.   The festival’s curatorial team will make a selection of the submitted works and present them at various venues at Jakarta’s Old Town from 13-28 November 2021. The 2021 Festival Theme: Space

It is perhaps more useful to try to imagine space as a series of relations between things that creates specific meanings depending on the contexts, rather than thinking about it as something defined by physical boundaries. After all, any given space may be perceived in different values by the people inhabiting or taking interest in it. These disparate views may co-exist peacefully, bringing complex layers of understanding that enrich the said space. Unfortunately, they can also be too discordant that these conflicting views become seemingly impossible to resolve. The space then becomes contested, which may even escalate into violent clashes
